Often seen as the unofficial start of the cycling season, the race is one of the most challenging races on the calendar because of the many hills and climbs in the course. Starting and finishing in Valkenburg, the race takes riders through the beautiful hills and picturesque villages of South Limburg. The finish is always an exciting moment, as the riders often ride to the finish in a sprint with several riders.
The event includes not only the race itself, but also numerous other activities for fans and spectators. For example, there are numerous parties and musical performances in the days during the race and several places where fans can enjoy a snack and a drink while cheering on the riders. There is also a touring version of the Amstel Gold Race, where amateur cyclists get the chance to ride part of the course themselves. All in all, the Amstel Gold Race is not only an exciting cycling race, but also a great and atmospheric event that captivates the whole region.
